Topic: How to install ram on a laptop
July 24, 2019 / By Bigvai Question:
computer: Acer aspire 5560 laptop
Problem: Installed new ram (had 4 GB, installed new RAM adding up to 8 GB total), and one of the slots doesn't detect the RAM installed. At first I thought that one of the ram sticks was bad, so I went back and installed my old RAM again to double check (the original RAM was 2 2 GB sticks). When I did so, speccy said that I only had one stick installed for a total of 2 GB of RAM.
I'm guessing the problem is either with my motherboard or just the power supply, but since the RAM slot that doesn't recognize RAM is still detected, I'm guessing it has to do with the power supply.
Is there any way I can fix this problem via BIOS or something along those lines?
If any extra info is needed just ask and I will provide.
According to CPUZ, my max capable RAM is 8 GB. Could this be a matter of the value being equal to the max capable RAM?
@Menace I switched the modules with each other and the laptop would not boot, just a black screen.
Where to download the guide how to install ram on a laptop PDF? Thanks!
