Topic: How much does a head gasket cost to replace
July 20, 2019 / By Azrael Question:
I have a 1994 accord lx non vtech engine. I just had my car looked at by a mechanic it cost me 200 because I was told I needed the egr on my car fixed which wasn't the case. This new mechanic diagnosed the problem with my car and told me it was that the engine was mis firing and one of the cylinders had bad pressure while the other 2 had a decent amount and one that had good pressure. He said I needed to replace my head gasket and the timing belt needed to be replaced which would cost me 1200. But he said after I get that fixed the car would run like new again. He encouraged me to fix it and said it was worth it, the car has 150,000++ miles on it(broken odometer hasn't worked since 114,000 so I'm just guessing) but I really don't know I bought this car for 1800 and already have put 800+ dollars in the repairs. Should I just fix the car or save up to buy a newer one. I have no money at all it will take me a couple months to save up 1200 for the repairs that's why I don't know if I should pay for the repair or just put the money into a better car. Can anyone help me I don't know what I should do I considered selling it but I don't think I would get much for it in this condition
